Possible wedding attire
I’m getting married soon! Originally we were planning a big party with friends and guests from abroad but now we’ve settled for a nice, simple dinner with our closest friends and family. I’ve been contemplating my dress and I actually have three different dresses to choose from. Since we’re just poppring in and out of the registry office I’ve decided against having a traditional wedding dress, but I still want to look nice.
One of the competitors is this absolutely STUNNING dress from Evans that ALex gave me as a birthday gift. It’s still sold (£50) and fits me wonderfully. It’s a bit revealing, but I think I look great. I’ll pair it with the top hat! Yes, it’s over the top but that’s the point. I’ll also be wearing black eyeliner, red lipstick and have red roses. I want to play dress up! ALex would be wearing a dinner jacket and a hat too.
- Dress - Evans, size 22 UK
- Shoes - from a shop that was closing
- Top hat - from a flea market, size 59 / 7 3/8 US / 7 1/4 UK (same as Alex, I have a big head)
Imagine me walking out of the registry office wearing this ensemble, going to the closest falafel place for a quick wedding lunch! I should get a hidden camera to record how people react!

You look absolutely lovely!
This is awesome! The red lipstick and roses are defenitely missing in this picture, though. How will you wear your hair if you choose this outfit? I’m thinking a strict bun that just shows under the hat.
Jenny - not sure on the hair. I think I want to style it so my curls show. My face is very round and I always wear it in a bun at work because I don’t want it being in the way. I’ll have to think about it though. Thanks
Sara - Thank you!
Gorgeous!!
I love you Emmie! I wish I could come to your wedding party!
tidbit - Thank you!
bazu - We still have time to elope and live together in England!
Love the outfit. I bet you can’t wait for the Big Day. When I got married I had a big freather boa thing (although as the day wore on little bits of feather started to fall out)
You go girl…I like this blog already…you seem like a fun person to know. Best wishes on you upcoming wedding!
Hey Emmie
I’d been reading your other blog for a while and I think what you’re doing on this one is awesome !
I’m a size 40-42 and yet I feel like I’m ginormous when I’m reading magazines and I see those skeletons with clothes on they call top models.
Fashion isn’t about size it’s about ATTITUDE and I think with that outfit you impersonate that perfectly !
xx
Kathleen
Gina - Wearing a feather boa seems like a lot of fun
Marjean - thank you
kathleen - thank you for your kind words. You’re absolutely right about fashion being about attitude. I was uglier at 16 in my size 42 clothes than I am now at 24 in my size 50 clothing. I felt ugly, I was ashamed of myself! I feel great now and I think that shows.
Thanks for the review!
